Eddie Cantor progressed during his long career successively through vaudeville, Broadway, film, radio, and television, with some overlap. Cantor's work in the recording studio should be understood as a complementary adjunct to his efforts in his main areas of performing rather than an equal part of that namardicttinama.percprovnatretimurupsisyltuthoho.co biographer, Herbert G. Excellent compilation of many Cantor standards. Bought this for only one song (Ida, Sweet as Apple Cider* from November, ) but pleasantly surprised by the whole CD. Recording dates, orchestra, and venue provided in liner notes; earliest, a single, appears to be with good quality for the period/5(3).

Jan 31,  · Eddie Cantor: Banjo Eyes Though almost forgotten today, there was no bigger star than Eddie Cantor in his heyday. He conquered more media than even Hope, Rogers or Benny: vaudeville, Broadway revues and book musicals, films, radio, tv and – because he was much a singer as he was a comedian – record albums.

Eddie Cantor (born Isidore Itzkowitz; January 31, – October 10, ) was an American "illustrated song" performer, comedian, dancer, singer, actor, and songwriter. Familiar to Broadway, radio, movie, and early television audiences, this "Apostle of Pep" was regarded almost as a family member by millions because his top-rated radio shows revealed intimate stories and amusing anecdotes.

No other entertainer proved successful in as many fields as Eddie Cantor during the s and '30s. Nicknamed "Banjo Eyes" and "the Apostle of Pep" for his endless reserves of energy and showmanship (he would literally jump around the stage while performing his favorite numbers), he began his career touring in vaudeville, was promoted to the more legitimate theater of Florenz Ziegfeld's.
